Percepción del familiar acompañante con respecto al cuidado de enfermería en hospitalización
Background: Health care is regarded worldwide as one of the social services most in demand. The perception of family caregivers is guided by certain expectations, which are modified as a result of certain activities undertaken by the nursing staff, reflecting the degree of satisfaction with services rendered. Aim: To assess the perception of family caregivers regarding the care given by nursing staff during their hospital stay. Material & Methods: A prospective descriptive cross-sectional study performed in the period May to June 2010. The sample size was determined considering a confidence level of 0.5 and a test power of 95%, which gave a final sample size of 153. Results: The results with respect to nursing care were examined to determine whether there was any association between different variables, determining that there was no significant association in our hospital. 23.5% of dissatisfaction was found, taking into account the areas, starting with opportunity (4.12%); kindness (4.24%); the care process (4.31%); the result of the attention 4.47%; for the nurse-patient relationship, just as we found a 4.69% over information about the care given 4.25%. Comfort given to the patient was3.68% it was observed that the affected index is comfort care.Objetivo.Evaluar la percepción del familiar acompañante con respecto al cuidado que otorga el personal de enfermería durante su estancia hospitalaria. Metodología. Estudio descriptivo transversal, se utilizó un instrumento que consta de 7 ítems evaluado con cinco reactivos de respuesta tipo Likert un Alpha de Cronbach de 0.8492. Se calificó realizando la sumatoria del valor otorgado a cada uno de los ítems, divido entre los siete ítems del instrumento, Otorgándoles una calificación para determinar la percepción que tiene el familiar. Donde la calificación de 5 significo excelente atención mientras que 4 suficiente atención y 3 o menos atención negativa, se catalogó 3 como insuficiente, 2 no realizada y 1 inadecuada Resultados: La edad promedio de la población oscilaba entre los 31 y 50 años, esto represento el 50.3% de los participantes (f=77), cabe señalar que no se encontró relación para percibir la calidad de atención de enfermería por el familiar acompañante. Por otro lado el 71.9% eran casados (f=110). Con relación al nivel educativo un 41.2% (f=63) señalo contar con un nivel de primaria seguido por un 34.6% (f=53) para el nivel de secundaria; se encontró que en el estado civil, los familiares acompañantes que se encontraban casados percibieron que la atención de enfermería fue satisfactoria reportando X2 6.01 con una P=.01.Conclusiones. En general. Los resultados encontrados en este estudio son similares a los estudios relacionados encontrados sobre la atención de enfermería, sin embargo tenemos el reto de lograr un verdadero cambio, que se manifieste en una calidad de servicio y que tanto el familiar acompañante como el paciente, manifiesten confianza y seguridad en nuestro cuidado, identificándonos como profesionales de la salud. Las dimensiones de amabilidad, trato personal y oportunidad o tiempos largos de espera por la atención, tiene un alto porcentaje de modificar la percepción del familiar. El área más afectada en la atención en los servicios de hospitalización de la UMAE N°1 Bajío, es la comodidad, factor importante para el bienestar del paciente, cabe mencionar que esta actividad es una responsabilidad compartida con el equipo multidisciplinario del hospital
Aspergillus niger citrate exporter revealed by comparison of two alternative citrate producing conditions
Currently, there is no consensus regarding the mechanism underlying Aspergillus niger citrate biosynthesis and secretion. We hypothesise that depending on the experimental setup, extracellular citrate accumulation can have fundamentally different underlying transcriptomic landscapes. We show that varying the amount and type of supplement of an arginine auxotrophic A. niger strain results in transcriptional down-regulation of citrate metabolising enzymes in the condition in which more citrate is accumulated extracellularly. This contrasts with the transcriptional adaptations when increased citrate production is triggered by iron limitation. By combining gene expression data obtained from these two very distinct experimental setups with hidden Markov models and transporter homology approaches, we were able to compile a shortlist of the most likely citrate transporter candidates. Two candidates (An17g01710 and An09g06720m.01) were heterologously expressed in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and one of the resultant mutants showed the ability to secrete citrate. Our findings provide steps in untangling the complex interplay of different mechanisms underlying A. niger citrate accumulation, and we demonstrate how a comparative transcriptomics approach complemented with further bioinformatics analyses can be used to pinpoint a fungal citrate exporter.grant in the framework of the BE-BASIC program F01.011 Transport processes in the production of organic acids by Aspergillus niger, and the WUR IPOP Systems Biology program KB-17-003.02.026 Genome-wide metabolic modelling and data integration of organic acid production in filamentous fungi

Loss of SRSF3 in Cardiomyocytes Leads to Decapping of Contraction-Related mRNAs and Severe Systolic Dysfunction
RATIONALE: RBPs (RNA binding proteins) play critical roles in the cell by regulating mRNA transport, splicing, editing, and stability. The RBP SRSF3 (serine/arginine-rich splicing factor 3) is essential for blastocyst formation and for proper liver development and function. However, its role in the heart has not been explored. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the role of SRSF3 in cardiac function. METHODS AND RESULTS: Cardiac SRSF3 expression was high at mid gestation and decreased during late embryonic development. Mice lacking SRSF3 in the embryonic heart showed impaired cardiomyocyte proliferation and died in utero. In the adult heart, SRSF3 expression was reduced after myocardial infarction, suggesting a possible role in cardiac homeostasis. To determine the role of this RBP in the adult heart, we used an inducible, cardiomyocyte-specific SRSF3 knockout mouse model. After SRSF3 depletion in cardiomyocytes, mice developed severe systolic dysfunction that resulted in death within 8 days. RNA-Seq analysis revealed downregulation of mRNAs encoding sarcomeric and calcium handling proteins. Cardiomyocyte-specific SRSF3 knockout mice also showed evidence of alternative splicing of mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) mRNA, generating a shorter protein isoform lacking catalytic activity. This was associated with decreased phosphorylation of 4E-BP1 (eIF4E-binding protein 1), a protein that binds to eIF4E (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E) and prevents mRNA decapping. Consequently, we found increased decapping of mRNAs encoding proteins involved in cardiac contraction. Decapping was partially reversed by mTOR activation. CONCLUSIONS: We show that cardiomyocyte-specific loss of SRSF3 expression results in decapping of critical mRNAs involved in cardiac contraction. The molecular mechanism underlying this effect likely involves the generation of a short mTOR isoform by alternative splicing, resulting in reduced 4E-BP1 phosphorylation. Grupo español de cirugía torácica asistida por videoimagen: método, auditoría y resultados iniciales de una cohorte nacional prospectiva de pacientes tratados con resecciones anatómicas del pulmón
Introduction: our study sought to know the current implementation of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for anatomical lung resections in Spain. We present our initial results and describe the auditing systems developed by the Spanish VATS Group (GEVATS). Methods: we conducted a prospective multicentre cohort study that included patients receiving anatomical lung resections between 12/20/2016 and 03/20/2018. The main quality controls consisted of determining the recruitment rate of each centre and the accuracy of the perioperative data collected based on six key variables. The implications of a low recruitment rate were analysed for '90-day mortality' and 'Grade IIIb-V complications'. Results: the series was composed of 3533 cases (1917 VATS; 54.3%) across 33 departments. The centres' median recruitment rate was 99% (25-75th:76-100%), with an overall recruitment rate of 83% and a data accuracy of 98%. We were unable to demonstrate a significant association between the recruitment rate and the risk of morbidity/mortality, but a trend was found in the unadjusted analysis for those centres with recruitment rates lower than 80% (centres with 95-100% rates as reference): grade IIIb-V OR=0.61 (p=0.081), 90-day mortality OR=0.46 (p=0.051). Conclusions: more than half of the anatomical lung resections in Spain are performed via VATS. According to our results, the centre's recruitment rate and its potential implications due to selection bias, should deserve further attention by the main voluntary multicentre studies of our speciality. The high representativeness as well as the reliability of the GEVATS data constitute a fundamental point of departure for this nationwide cohort
Association between Zika virus infection and microcephaly in Brazil, January to May, 2016: preliminary report of a case-control study.
BACKGROUND: The microcephaly epidemic, which started in Brazil in 2015, was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by WHO in 2016. We report the preliminary results of a case-control study investigating the association between microcephaly and Zika virus infection during pregnancy. METHODS: We did this case-control study in eight public hospitals in Recife, Brazil. Cases were neonates with microcephaly. Two controls (neonates without microcephaly), matched by expected date of delivery and area of residence, were selected for each case. Serum samples of cases and controls and cerebrospinal fluid samples of cases were tested for Zika virus-specific IgM and by quantitative RT-PCR. Laboratory-confirmed Zika virus infection during pregnancy was defined as detection of Zika virus-specific IgM or a positive RT-PCR result in neonates. Maternal serum samples were tested by plaque reduction neutralisation assay for Zika virus and dengue virus. We estimated crude odds ratios (ORs) and 95% CIs using a median unbiased estimator for binary data in an unconditional logistic regression model. We estimated ORs separately for cases with and without radiological evidence of brain abnormalities. FINDINGS: Between Jan 15, 2016, and May 2, 2016, we prospectively recruited 32 cases and 62 controls. 24 (80%) of 30 mothers of cases had Zika virus infection compared with 39 (64%) of 61 mothers of controls (p=0·12). 13 (41%) of 32 cases and none of 62 controls had laboratory-confirmed Zika virus infection; crude overall OR 55·5 (95% CI 8·6-∞); OR 113·3 (95% CI 14·5-∞) for seven cases with brain abnormalities; and OR 24·7 (95% CI 2·9-∞) for four cases without brain abnormalities. INTERPRETATION: Our data suggest that the microcephaly epidemic is a result of congenital Zika virus infection. We await further data from this ongoing study to assess other potential risk factors and to confirm the strength of association in a larger sample size. La economía y la administración están inmersas en el universo de las ciencias sociales, áreas del conocimiento que comprenden dominios diferentes, pero también convergen y se intersectan en un objeto de estudio: las organizacienones y sus agregados (industrias o sectores). Desde una perspectiva social, los estudios económico-administrativos informan sobre cómo hacer eficientes a las organizaciones y competitivos a los sectores con la finalidad de impactar positivamente en la justicia social (por ejemplo: mediante productos de mejor calidad a mejores precios). El auge de este tipo de estudios está extendido a fenómenos clave en el mundo de hoy, tales como: la ventaja competitiva, la innovación, la administración de la cadena de suministros y la administración verde, entre otros.El objetivo de este libro es difundir las aportaciones hechas a los estudios económico-administrativos, ya sea como reflexiones teóricas o a modo de evidencia empírica, pues la conjunción de varias ciencias ayuda a comprender fenómenos complejos mejor que una disciplina en forma aislada. Más que la homogeneidad de teorías o hegemonía de unas sobre otras, la investigación interdisciplinaria construye un acercamiento a la diversidad de puntos de vista: se buscan factores, métodos o lenguajes comunes alrededor de un objeto de estudio (Fernández, 2009; Martínez, 1997), llegándose a conformar una comunidad científica con antecedentes disciplinarios diferentes, pero con cierta unidad, relaciones y acciones recíprocas (Kuhn, 1995). Así, en este texto el objeto de estudio es el funcionamiento e interacción de las organizaciones, como integrantes de los sectores económicos, en los mercados locales y globales. Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at TeV with the ATLAS detector
This paper presents measurements of the and cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a
function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were
collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with
the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity
of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements
varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the
1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured
with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with
predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various
parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between
